Thanks for your participation. I'd like to discuss your views on renewable energy.
To start, how important is the issue of renewable energy, such as wind and solar power,
to you personally? Why would you say you feel that way?
I think it's very important to develop renewable energy, like wind power and solar power,
especially in rural areas, where other forms of power are not easy to access.
For example, in some areas in Southeast Asia, people live far away from cities,
so they use solar power to generate electricity because there are no power plants near where they live.
So it's very important to develop these kinds of energy.
I think renewable energy is essential in the foreseeable future, whether it's wind power,
solar power, or any other source of clean energy.
Because as we burn more coal and use more fossil fuels, they're going to be depleted in the end.
So we have to find alternatives. And in some places, people don't have coal to burn to generate electricity,
nor do they have any, like, dams to use to generate electricity.
Wind power and solar power would be a great choice.
Well, I think renewable energy is essential, especially in the future,
when there's not enough fossil fuel for us to use.
Whether it's wind power or solar power, renewable energy makes it easy for people to have access to electricity.
Think about remote areas where people have no hydropower or coal to burn.
Wind power and solar power would be very ideal ways for them to power up their entire house or apartment.
Version 1 > Version 3 > Version 2
Southeast Asia、remote areas、far from cities,
Opinion→Reason→Example
What do I think? —
Why? —
What's one concrete example? —
Version 1
renewable energy is important
→ remote areas need electricity
→ power plants may be far away
→ solar power can help
Q2 · EXPERIENCE
Question 2:
Now, describe a time when you or someone you know tried to reduce energy use.
What actions were taken and what made it easy or difficult?
1. Situation
2. Action
3. Difficulty
4. Result
Air conditioner
Situation: It was a very hot summer.
Action: We set the AC to 26°C and used a fan more often.
Difficulty: It became difficult on extremely hot days.
Result: We still managed to use the AC less most of the time.
Q3 · OBSERVATION / SOLUTION
Question 3:
Great. In your daily life, have you noticed any renewable energy initiatives in your community?
If yes, what have you seen and how do they impact your area?
If not, what's an initiative that might be beneficial for your community?
A:WHAT → WHERE → IMPACT
What? Solar streetlights / rooftop solar panels / solar-powered signs
Where? Near my neighborhood / on school buildings / along some roads
Impact?
save electricitylower energy costsreduce pollutionprovide local power
说完 “There are some solar panels on buildings near my home.”
What difference do they make?
Q4 · EVALUATION
Question 4:
Thought-provoking. Many believe transitioning to renewable energy is crucial for environmental sustainability,
while others worry about the costs involved.
Do you think the benefits of renewable energy outweigh the drawbacks? Why or why not?
I think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
Renewable energy can reduce pollution.
Of course, it can be expensive to build at first,
but the cost is mainly short-term while the environmental benefits can last for many years.
1Opinion
Opinion → Reason → Example
2Experience
Situation → Action → Difficulty → Result
3Observation / Solution
What → Where → Impact Idea → Place → Benefit
4Evaluation
Position → Benefit → Drawback → Why one matters more
Q1: Opinion → Reason → Example Q2: Situation → Action → Difficulty → Result Q3: What → Where → Impact / Idea → Place → Benefit Q4: Position → Benefit → Drawback → Why one matters more
