Q1 · Introduce the Role

Role → Context → Purpose / Value

“I've been helping manage our school's PE storage room for about a semester.”

Q2 · Describe the Duties

Main duty → Specific tasks → How

“Before class, I prepare the equipment. Afterward, I count it and update the borrowing records.”

Q1 · WORK EXPERIENCE

Question 1:

Thank you for agreeing to participate. I'd like to ask you some questions about your work experience. First, can you tell me about the type of work you are currently doing or have done in the past?
RoleContextPurpose / Value

A · Zoo Volunteer
student volunteer → zoo / panda area → visitor education → meaningful experience
B · PE Storage
school role → one semester → support PE teachers → reliability
接着说 but I have taken on responsibilities at school...,再介绍一个具体经历。

Zoo Volunteer →

student volunteer → zoo setting → visitor learning

I volunteered at a zoo, where I helped visitors learn about giant pandas.

Sample Answer 1 · A · Zoo Volunteer /

Well, I'm still in high school, so I haven't had a formal job yet, but I've done some volunteer work. One experience I really enjoyed was volunteering at a zoo, mainly near the giant panda enclosure. I helped the staff introduce pandas to visitors and explain why protecting wildlife matters. What made the experience rewarding was seeing visitors become genuinely curious when they learned something new. It felt good to make a contribution, even in a small way.

Sample Answer 2 · B · School Equipment Manager /

Well, since I'm still in high school, I haven't had a formal job yet, but I've been taking on responsibilities at school. For about a semester, I've helped manage the storage room for PE equipment. I work with PE teachers to make sure things are organized and ready for classes. It's a small role, but it has taught me to be reliable, because if the equipment isn't available when it's needed, an entire class can be affected.

Core Vocabulary & Chunks

  • make a contribution, even in a small way — 哪怕只是尽一份微薄之力

Q2 · REGULAR DUTIES

Question 2:

Thank you. Can you describe some of your regular responsibilities or particular tasks that you do in your job?
Main dutySpecific tasksHow you do them

A · Zoo Volunteer
answer questions → share interesting facts → remind visitors of rules
B · PE Storage
prepare equipment → collect and count → update borrowing records
I am responsible for the equipment 太抽象。请补充一两个动作,例如 count the balls 和 update the records。

Sample Answer 1 · A · Zoo Volunteer /

When I volunteered at the zoo, most of my responsibilities involved helping visitors near the giant panda enclosure. I answered questions about what pandas eat, where they live, and how they behave. I also reminded visitors not to feed the animals or throw anything into the enclosure. Instead of simply repeating what's written on the signs, I tried to share a few surprising facts. For example, many people had no idea how much bamboo pandas can eat in one day. That made the conversations more engaging.

Sample Answer 2 · B · School Equipment Manager /

My main responsibility is making sure PE equipment gets to the right classes and comes back afterward. Before each lesson, I collect the basketballs, soccer balls, rackets, or whatever the teachers need. After class, I count everything and return it to the storage room. I also keep track of what gets borrowed using a computer system. We used to record everything on paper, but now we check equipment in and out digitally. I have to be especially careful when several classes need equipment at the same time.

Core Vocabulary & Chunks

  • check equipment in and out — 登记器材的归还与借出
  • make conversations more engaging — 让交流更有吸引力

Question 3:

Interesting. Tell me about a challenging project or task you have worked on. How did you handle it?
ChallengeYour actionResult / Improvement

How did you handle it?。

A · Zoo Volunteer
unsafe feeding → reminders ignored → friendly warning sign
B · PE Storage
Sports Day rush → recording errors → check and update immediately
至少明确一个具体动作,比如 designed a sign、checked the records right away。

Visitor Safety →

problem: visitors feeding pandas → action: visual reminder → improvement: clearer message

Our team designed a colorful sign to make the rule easier for children to notice.

Sample Answer 1 · A · Zoo Volunteer /

One challenging task was dealing with visitors who tried to feed the pandas during feeding time. Some children got so excited that they tried to throw snacks into the enclosure, which could be harmful to the animals. We reminded families about the rules, but not everyone paid attention. So our volunteer team came up with a friendlier approach: we designed a colorful sign featuring a cartoon panda and a simple message asking people not to feed the animals. We placed it where families could easily see it, so the warning was harder to miss.

Sample Answer 2 · B · School Equipment Manager /

One of my biggest challenges was managing sports equipment during our school's Sports Day. Dozens of balls and other items were borrowed and returned throughout the day, and even a small mistake could trigger a warning in our computer system. To avoid losing track, I checked items out one by one and updated the records right away. When something came back, I counted it and compared the total with the system. This way, I could spot problems early instead of trying to sort everything out at the end.

Core Vocabulary & Chunks

  • come up with a different approach — 想出不同的处理方式
  • be harmful to the animals — 对动物有害

Q4 · CAREER OPINION

Question 4:

Great. Some people believe that gaining diverse work experiences by often changing jobs in companies is more valuable than staying in one job or one company for a long time. What is your opinion on this? Why?
Clear positionReason(s)Why they matter

A · Change Jobs
new tasks → new skills → adaptability + wider teamwork
B · Stay Longer
strong colleague relationships → deeper expertise → career growth
更自然的表达是 can be more valuable、may lead to;职业发展还要看行业和阶段。

Variety of Skills →

different tasks → new skills → more adaptability

Changing jobs can push people to learn skills they might not use in their current role.

Sample Answer 1 · A · Changing Jobs /

I'd say changing jobs can be more valuable, especially when you're young and still figuring out what you want to do. Different jobs push you to learn new skills. You might work with customers in one company and manage projects in another, so you become more adaptable. You also meet coworkers from different backgrounds, with different ways of solving problems. Learning to work with all kinds of people can improve your communication and teamwork skills. Of course, I wouldn't change jobs just for the sake of it, but some variety can help you grow.

Sample Answer 2 · B · Staying Longer /

Personally, I think staying with one company for a long time can be more valuable. First, you get to build strong relationships with your coworkers. When you understand how people communicate and what they're good at, teamwork becomes much more efficient. Also, staying in one role gives you time to develop real expertise. Instead of constantly starting over, you can take on more challenging tasks and become someone others rely on. That could lead to greater responsibility and better career opportunities. So, for me, long-term growth matters more than working for lots of different companies.

Core Vocabulary & Chunks

  • figure out what you want to do — 逐渐弄清自己想做什么
  • just for the sake of it — 纯粹为了做某事而做,没有实际目的
  • take on more challenging tasks — 承担更具挑战性的任务

Original wording / transcriptMore natural expression
help taking care of stray animalshelp take care of stray animals
our equipments / dozens of equipmentsour equipment / dozens of pieces of equipment(equipment 不可数)
different personalitydifferent personalities
how much bamboos panda can eathow much bamboo a panda can eat
become an exporting in the field [possible transcription error]become an expert in the field
boost up your further work opportunityimprove your future career opportunities
